Vendor Feature: The Otherside Creatives

We are really excited about this blog post because we are featuring one of our favorite vendors: The Otherside Creatives! We got in contact with Anna + Jordan and had them answer a few questions about weddings and working with us!

Tell us about yourself and where you’re based!
We are a pair of best friends located in Baltimore City that met selling private events at a restaurant back in 2012. We got our start booking rehearsal dinners and corporate parties before moving into catering sales, and finally into starting The Otherside in 2018. We love sour beer, dirty vodka martinis, any real housewives franchise, traveling, thrifting, and live music.

What is your favorite part of the planning process with a client?
We love the feeling of nostalgia – our favorite part of planning is taking personal details and turning them into moments at the wedding reception. We want our couples to feel like their wedding, of any size, is the most intimate gathering. We started The Otherside Creatives as an outlet and resource for couples who wanted to do something a little less traditional. We strive to create one of a kind events with details that you won’t see on Pinterest.

Can you share a memory about working with Bachelor Boys Band?
Our leap year couple, Heather + Jordan wanted a really nontraditional wedding, one without a lot of formalities. They welcomed guests into the reception over the mic with the band, bringing everyone out on to the dance floor immediately. They wanted all of their guests together for the first dance, on the dance floor — Bachelor Boys wailed out with Signed, Sealed, Delivered by Stevie Wonder, and it set the tone for the rest of the evening.

Share one of your most memorable experiences as a planner.
Sometimes you meet a couple and know instantly that they are your people – from the second you start the planning process, you just are counting down the days till the wedding arrives and dreading the second the wedding is over. One of our most favorite couples last year recommended us to their family for a 2020 (now 2021) wedding, and that was the best feeling that we have ever had.
